Season 1, Episode 2: The Train Job

Serenity continues to travel through space conducting illegal runs across the star system, which is under the control of The Alliance. A powerful and fearsome mobster named Adelei Niska demands that the crew of Serenity pull a train robbery. The train is carrying medical supplies for a community, and Reynolds and Zoe get held on suspicion. They get free with Inara’s help but realize they were tricked and try to return Niska’s money. His henchman isn’t too happy, but Mal “persuades” the next guy to take the money back. Meanwhile, two blue-handed, black-suited operatives close in on River.

Season 1, Episode 3: Bushwhacked

On a salvage mission aboard a drifting colony ship, the Serenity crew find signs that the crew were killed by the cannibalistic Reavers. They find one survivor, but things take a turn for the worse when an Alliance ship looking for an unspecified Firefly-class ship with brother-and-sister stowaways shows up and takes them in.

Season 1, Episode 4: Shindig

By local custom he unintentionally challenges her date, the snobbish and arrogant Atherton Wing, to a duel of swords

While completing a job on a backwater world, Mal is married to a village girl without his knowledge. The girl, Saffron, gets onboard and the crew does not find her until they’re already in the air.
Season 1, Episode 7: Jaynestown

Serenity sets down at the mudder colony of Canton where it turns out Jayne is a hero for having dropped a bunch of money there years ago that he and his partner Stitch stole from the local magistrate. The drop was unintentional but Jayne doesn’t turn down the attentions of the local folks who idealize him, in a Robin-Hood-kinda-way. Meanwhile, Kaylee and Simon dance, River rewrites Book’s bible, and Inara beds the magistrate’s son, a virgin.

In return for the crew’s help in getting them in to the facility, Simon helps Mal, Zoe and Jayne organize an operation to steal valuable medical supplies. But Jayne has other ideas when he learns about the reward for Simon and River and contacts the local authorities, leading to another appearance of the two, sinister-looking, ‘blue-gloved agents’.

Season 1, Episode 10: War Stories

However, Inara does not trust Saffron from the last time (see ‘Our Mrs. Reynolds’) and plots with Mal to have an alternate plan. Meanwhile, Jayne is concerned that Simon and River will discover that he sold them out to the Alliance on Ariel.

However, Mal begins to suspect something might be wrong when Alliance agents, led by the relentless Lt. Womack, start chasing Serenity, demanding return of their property: the body.
Plot Summary: Serenity is based on Joss Whedon’s television show Firefly, in which interplanetary travel has brought about colonization of the planets, leading to a combination of sci-fi and Western tropes. The film picks up where the short-lived series left off, following the exploits of a crew of small-time criminals and outcasts who eke out a living on the edge of space, performing illegal smuggles and transports aboard a Firefly class cargo ship named Serenity. Led by a quick-witted veteran from the losing side of an interstellar war, Captain “Mal” Reynolds, the crew is comprised of a rag-tag assortment of characters who, despite having their differences, are mostly loyal to one another, the closest thing that many of them have to a family. The stability of the crew is challenged, however, by the revelation that two of the passengers aboard, a brother and sister, are fugitives, wanted by the Interplanetary Alliance with a hefty reward on their heads.
